Why Custom Care (Concierge Care) for Mental Health?

Traditional therapy often treats emotional health as something that fits neatly into a single box, most commonly a 50- or 60-minute session once a week. For many people, that structure works well. For others, real life is more fluid and harder to schedule around. Custom Care, also called Concierge Care, is an invitation to reimagine what a “unit” of emotional health support can look like.
With Custom Care at Growing Sideways Therapy, one-hour sessions absolutely remain part of our support system. They are valuable, grounding, and often the backbone of therapy. At the same time, support does not have to live only inside that hour. Custom Care allows therapy to be supplemented with phone check ins, enhanced text access, collaboration through select apps, and additional sessions that are shorter or longer depending on what you need in that moment. It also allows for greater flexibility in scheduling, priority rescheduling when life inevitably shifts, and a more responsive form of care overall.
This model is especially helpful for people with irregular schedules, demanding jobs, frequent travel, or seasons of life that feel unpredictable. It can also be a good fit for individuals who appreciate concierge style services and want their mental health care to reflect the same level of personalization and access.
Custom Care is offered as a membership model. A fee is paid at the start of each month and includes all agreed upon services for that month. Rather than counting minutes or sessions, the focus stays where it belongs, on support, continuity, and care that adapts to you.
